Chic Soul Music is back and has done it again! This is the first release for Chic Soul Music for 2018 and as usual, the label has shown up in a major way. It is normal to hear about the ups and downs of love from the imprint but for the first time, and in today’s climate around the globe, the CSM team felt it was necessary to address a social issue and what better way than to cover a classic performed by the legendary Phillip Bailey, “Children of the Ghetto,” written by C Amoo, E Amoo, and Joan Vives Sanfeliu.
Singer and Songwriter Sheree Hicks has performed this monumental tune in a way that only she can, which is soothing your soul. She is a master at keeping the integrity of any original that many would not touch, but allowing herself to be introduced to you from her delivery and with slight touches of her own creativity that grabs you immediately.
This new version of the original has given a brand new breath of fresh air. The Deep Sole Syndicate team, namely Sean Ali and Corey Munk Julious, have wowed us yet again. When you think they can’t engage you a step further, they take you to a new height. The production duo themselves are already a force but adding Sheree to the equation has totally made this new musical love token a new movement. They are becoming staples in house Music with their signature sound.
From the start of the Afro feel to the percussions and drum programming done by the duo puts you in a mood to uncontrollably want to get up and move. The keys, played by Shawn Hibbler compliment the track beautifully as the guitar, played by Vincent “Vinnie” Roofe around Sheree’s vocal performance was like a well choreographed dance. Sean Ali and Corey Munk Julious orchestrated this production until it was nothing short of perfection, putting just the right elements together.
This highly anticipated release is sure to catch the ears and hearts of the House music community as well as anyone who loves feeling a sense of pride and unity regarding where they come from. This is just another piece of music to be heard from around the world for many more years to come.
